The Staying Alive Foundation

As an independent initiative of MTV Networks International, the Staying Alive Foundation (SAF) is a leading charity that promotes and funds youth-led initiatives. Since June 2007, the SAF has promoted YEI activities by funding a series of projects, including: Post-test club drama advocacy, Vocational skill trainings, Radio programs educating the public about HIV/AIDS stigma, Community HIV/AIDS campaigns, and Voluntary counseling and testing for HIV.
The SAF also supports YEI through capacity building trainings, mentoring and consulting on strategic development plans, and it continues to support youth-led HIV/AIDS prevention and care initiatives across the globe.

The International Book Project

Located in Lexington, Kentucky USA, the International Book Project (IBP) is a nonprofit organization that partners with other NGOs, schools, churches and Peace Corps Volunteers to send donated books to places in need. Since 2008, IBP has been providing YEI with book donations to support the learning of orphaned and vulnerable children.

The Rhodes Scholars’ Southern Africa Forum (RSSAF)

The RSSAF, a forum of Rhodes Scholars currently studying at the University of Oxford, supports the YEI vocational skills project targeting young sex workers.

Global Youth Coalition for HIV/AIDS

gyca (2K)The Global Youth Coalition for HIV/AIDS (GYCA) is a leading resource organization for HIV/AIDS initiatives and agencies around the globe.  GYCA is a network that links its large number of member organizations and individuals to vital resources, including funding information and partnership opportunities. It also provides free e-courses for young people and runs a grants program to support grassroots organizations. YEI has been a member of the GYCA network since June 2008.  GYCA has also trained several YEI staff in key project management and community advocacy e-courses.

Idealist

Idealist is a charitable networking site that links millions of charitable agencies, volunteers and individuals around the globe. YEI is a registered member of Idealist and has been promoted by the network since January 2008. The African Women's Development Fund (AWDF)

The African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF) is a grant making foundation that supports local, national and regional women’s organizations working towards the empowerment of African women and the promotion and realization of their rights.   The AWDF supports YEI activities that focus on promoting the rights of women, especially women living with HIV/AIDS and young sex workers.  This year, the AWFD is funding YEI activities related to the commemoration of the International World AIDS Day.

Bwera Hospital

Bwera Hospital is a government-owned medical facility in Kasese District.  It provides general medical care, free HIV counseling and testing, family planning services, in and out-patient services, radiography and maternity services to the community.  YEI works in partnership with this hospital to promote PMTCT, Family Planning and Anti-retroviral therapy (ART).  Bwera Hospital also provides capacity building trainings to YEI staff and offers referrals for our services.

Tim Rosta Inc.

Managed by Mr. Tim Rosta, a highly-respected Integrated Marketing expert, founder of LifeBeat, and a Former Senior Vice President of MTV Networks International, Tim Rosta Inc. is a US-based marketing company that prides itself on building effective brands and promoting all kinds of corporate organizations, programs and events.  Tim Rosta Inc. is the major sponsor of the YEI youth centre, The Tim Rosta Youth Resource Centre, and donates computers, books, indoor games and other materials to the centre.

 

Kasese District Development Network for Civil Society Organizations (KADDE-NET)

KADDE-NET is the coordinating agency of all civil society organizations (CSOs) in Kasese District. YEI has been a member of KADDE-NET since 2007 and has benefitted from the agency’s learning and exchange programs as well as from its linkages to other member organizations. KADDE-NET also produces a quarterly newsletter showcasing activities run by CSOs in the district, and provides capacity building trainings for our staff.  To learn more about KADDE-NET and how you could get involved, please contact kaddenet@yahoo.co.uk.

The Kambasu Trust Fund

 

An initiative of the YEI co-founder, Mr. Kambasu Obed, the fund supports the education of helpless orphans and other vulnerable children.  This fund, which is raised by Mr. Kambasu and his friends, is currently sponsoring 24 children in primary school - six of whom are from war-affected northern Uganda.  It also sponsors the YEI handcraft trainings for vulnerable youth, with a focus on young sex workers and youths living with HIV.  To learn more about how you can help change a life by supporting the fund, please contact the Fund Manager, at trustfund@kambasu.com.

 

Local Governments

 

YEI has established close partnerships with the local governments of Bwera, Ihandiro, Karambi, Kitholhu, Isango and Nyakiyumbu sub-counties and the Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council. YEI is also supported by the Kasese District Local Government and other local governments within the district. These local governments support the organization with provision of government and other statistical data, activity and volunteer authorizations, guidance on program design, advocacy and policy translations. We also get capacity building trainings and project references for these local governments.

Please make a difference in the lives of the needy by supporting YEI. For $10 you can help one person enroll for ARVs, $50 can pay a year's school fees for an orphan,
$100 can sponsor a radio program on HIV for a whole month, $500 can help two vulnerable youth acquire valuable vocational skills.
